Business Dynamics and Challenges

Business Activities: Solar power provider
Challenges/Needs: Despite strong technical expertise and proven project delivery, One Stop Solar faced key challenges that limited its growth potential: • Limited financial capacity to expand operations and meet increasing demand for solar installations. • Lack of marketing and digital visibility, which constrained its ability to reach new municipal and commercial clients beyond Graaff-Reinet. • Dependence on a small team and limited working capital, restricting the company’s ability to scale up and bid for larger tenders. These challenges hindered One Stop Solar from capitalising fully on South Africa’s growing renewable energy market, particularly within the agriculture and government sectors seeking sustainable energy solutions.

Intervention Insights and Results

Intervention Details: Through targeted business support and funding facilitation, One Stop Solar successfully secured R14,329,000.00 in financing to expand its solar installations in the Graaff-Reinet area. The intervention focused on:
• Scaling operations to implement additional large-scale solar projects across municipal and commercial sites.
Outcome Details: The funding and business development support have positioned One Stop Solar for exponential growth and long-term sustainability. Key achievements include:
• Revenue increased from R2.2 million in 2024 to R8.1 million in 2025, representing a 269% increase.
• Job creation, the number of employees increased from two to six—an increase of 300%.
• Increased energy generation capacity, enabling the business to supply sustainable, cost-effective electricity to more clients in the Graaff-Reinet region and beyond.
• Contribution to environmental sustainability, aligning with South Africa’s national energy transition goals.
