W. MOTHEO Funerals is a licensed Financial Service Provider under INGWE LIFE Group Scheme, FSP 4004, and underwritten by SAFrican Unity Life FSP 8447. The company offers four (4) types of Insurance Policies to meet the needs of our customers and that of the funeral industry; Burial Plans, Cash Plans, Grocery Plans, and Ox Plans. Under burial plans the company has 4 packages with varying burial services such as storage facilities, tents and chairs, refreshments and other services for a dignified burial. Cash plans are payouts in a case of loss, depending on membership. Groceries can also be paid in cash or be claimed from a partnering store. Ox plan is for slaughtering of a cow, which can be claimed for adults only.
Challenges/Needs:
The company approached Sedfa because they were struggling to increase their market share, primary due to their location in Taung town. The business premises are in the outskirts of town and lacked visibility. The owner indicated that with increased visibility they will be able to increase their membership books thereby increasing premium collections.
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
An Assessment was conducted which revealed that indeed the business needed to improve visibility. They were assisted with 2 large signage boards, both strategically positioned to increase awareness and direct more traffic towards the company.
Outcome Details:
The company successfully launched another branch. They managed to maintain their previous employees with hopes of hiring new employees for the new branch. The company increased their revenue from around R1M to around R3,5M in a short space of time mainly due to increase in membership premiums.
